EGR Valve on brother's car
My brother drives a 95 Avenger, i know not a prelude but i thought you guys might be helpful on this one.... he's got a CEL and its throwing a code for 'EGR valve insufficient' i think is what it was. I know the EGR is the Exhaust Gas Recirculator but i'm not sure on the exact purpose or process. Is this a problem worth paying 80 bucks for a new valve? or is there another fix?
no help huh? ok well lets say my 93 Si is throwing a code for the EGR valve being insufficient.... if this were to happen what are my options?
Did he do anything to block the EGR? If he's getting a code the car wil likely be running crappy, it says insufficient flow, so it may not be not working, just clogged...
thanks for the help satan... no he didnt do anything to his valve, he doesnt do anything to his car at all, bone stock.... can the valve be cleaned? or just replaced?
First few links I found on google

http://www.volvospeed.com/Repair/egr.htm
Basically you clean out the valve with carb cleaner...

Thanks again man, that was my next step but i wanted to try and talk to someone who had actually messed with 'em before as opposed to just reading about it.... but again thanks.
