Default valve clatter and cold rev limit woes

i have some wierd valve noise when i drive down the road and it dissappears once vtec kicks in but have no clue what it is. Now i have made an appointment to get a valve adjustment and hopefully that will cure it . will update you guys but still need some advice. And also is there any way to bypass the cold temp. rev limiter cause my car barely gets warm when its chilly outside like 50 degrees or so outside. Its a real pain having to shift at 7600 rpm compared to the 8600rpm especially after last night when a 3.2 TL typeS got me by a fender length cause i kept hitting that damn cold rev limit. by the way the motor is a JDM B16a 1st gen with pr3 and V-afc to control fuel and vtec..
