Best setup for $3k?
Before I was thinking of doing turbo or S/C but it seems that unless I drop around $10k I'm gonna blow my engine. So I was thinking of going with a good nitrous system similar to the one that the AEM RSX from SCC a few months ago. I like the idea of an rpm-activated system. What would need to run say a 75 or 100 shot? Also, has anyone is the south Jersey/Philly area currently running nitrous I would like to know a local refill station.
The motor will handle a 100 shot if you don't go overboard with the spraying and get it tuned properly. The trick is getting it to hook up, which can be a bitch. Originally I was goingt o use a progressive controller, but I don't have the cash for it right now so I'm putting a two stage kit in instead. First off, if you want to spray more than a 75 shot you are going to need either a direct port kit or the NOSzles kit w/ adapters for imports. There are sev eral progressive controllers out there including the jacob nitrous mastermind, Crane, NOS, and NX. Since you have alot of money to drop I'd go with the NX or NOS if you want to go with a progressive controller. Also if you go with a progressive controller you will need to get an extra nitrous solenoid as a back up in case the primary one fails.
For a 75 shot you will need colder plugs(NGK-BKR7E), a purge kit(Speedshop.ord has good, cheap ones), a bottle heater, an ignition(MSD dig6 is good), nitrous pressure gauge, and fuel pressure gauge. For the 100 shot add a fuel pump(255gph).
