'89 CRX seatbelt messed up
My seat belt will not retract fully, luckily it retracs just enough to fit on me, but it is not snug and all that seatbelt just dangles when I take it off. Anyone had this problem and actually tried to fix it instead of replace it? Just wondering if I can reset the spring so it will pull all the seat belt back in.
I fixed mine. It's a bit tricky, but I got it done. You basically remove the housing where the spring is in, it's just a few screws holding it (don't open the housing and reveal the spring, it's pretty damn sharp, and will cut you. Don't ask me how I know), and then proceed to turn the seat belt all the way in. It's a bit tricky to do that because you have to hold the the seatbelt assemble upright to prevent it from locking. Once you have put the seatbelt all the way in, you now put the spring housing back on, but you don't screw it on yet. You turn the assembly to get some force built up (clockwise I belive). Turn it about 3-4 times, then put the screws in. Pull on the seat belt and test it out. It should now reel back in when you let it go.
Later.
Later.

Thanks for letting me know about the Honda warranty on seatbelts. It took a little run aound to get the dealer to work on it, a fire was lit under their butts after I called in a complaint to Honda USA. Somehow after that they got the seatbelt in less than a week when they said it would take over a month!
I dropped my car off at the dealer this morning and just picked it up with a new seatbelt. Only one problem... they looked under my hood for no reason, and I'll be getting a call from a service manager soon to try and explain why his technicians looked under the hood on a seat belt recall. I told them it all seems pretty shady to me.

I dont know about our 4th gens but I know on the 92+ civics the exhaust also has a liftime warranty if you are the first owner. Pretty cool.

yeah, you gotta watch out for some service advisors at dealerships. they are just like car salesman, some are cool and honest, and some are jickey as hell. they both get paid by commision plus bonuses
Here's an update, the sevice manager called me back and got real offensive and told me that if I wasn't happy with the service they provided then I should just find another Honda dealer that I can trust.
He also told me that his technicians have the right to loook under any hood they want to, even though he also agreed that they had no reason to be under my hood to change a seatbelt.

write them a nice complaint and also send a copy to honda. Make sure you put a 'cc' in the letter
I have already typed up a letter and have it in an envelope being sent to Honda Corporate customer service as soon as I put a stamp on it.
Glad I park my car in a garage at night, have a barking dog in the yard, and a gun beside the bed.
Well, the letter is in my mail box right now waiting for the mail man to pick it up and take it to Honda Corporate customer service in Kalifornia.
In the meanwhile I'm going to get the home address of the owner of Bob Barbour Honda and send him a copy of the letter. I checked yesterday and his address is unlisted, but when I got home my wife informed me that her brother and his wife are friends with Mr. Barbour, looks like I'm getting an address.
