Default is it ok for an o2 sensor to get wet?

i'll be installing an o2 sensor on my boosted SiR soon and the only place i could put it is on the section of the downpipe by the oil so that's pretty much underneath the car coz space is tight if i put it on the upper part. the problem is whenever it rains hard the street floods up pretty fast and not just flood there's also potholes or slight rain. so i'm wondering if i put it underneath the car will it get damaged if it gets wet?

It can get wet and still function.

It will not function if totally submerged for long periods of time. So no lake driving.
