Default burning oil

my car keep smoking when i start it then when it warm up it stop. What can i do to stop the smoking?

what kind of car
year
make
model
mileage
any particularly bad maintenice (sp) issues you've had in the past
what you've done to it (as in modding and/or funky maint.)

do a leakdown test or have shop do one for you along with a compression test and those results tell you where your problems lies, valves, rings, or headgasket

Its probably the valve guides, when worn they leak oil from the cyl head into the combustion chamber. It burns off and the guides expand as they warm reducing oil loss.
