Default d4 light blinking

can someone please help i’ve had this problem now with 2 transmissions and one of them lost first gear and im scared im going to ruin this one i have in. i have a p0700 code and i think also a code for a lockup solenoid/shift solenoid. this is even after replacing the transmission with virtually all new sensors. this trans was good when it was in a different car but now in my car its acting how my first trans acted slipping gears if revved a little too much, its annoying when trying to get up to highway speeds. i searched forums and seems everyone else’s problem is slightly different than mine. can anyone point me in the right direction to look to fix this problem thank you so much

Does your speedometer work? any other codes related to ELD, etc? Check fuse 15. It gets zapped if the o2 sensor harness on the cat rubs on the body and pierces through the wire.

sorry for the late reply i haven’t been on here and thanks for replying. i had that issue actually due to my o2 sensors shorting out which caused the car to die and not charge. i fixed that issue already so its not that, and i don’t believe it’s the wire harness rubbing the intake manifold issue either as there is no abrasions or cuts into the harness but i removed the bracket entirely to be safe. the only codes i have that stay on are p0700, p1758, p1298. im believing for the transmission code it might be my connector pins are corroded i haven’t changed it out yet to see if that fixes it. but i changed the trans entirely which confused me on why that code stayed and comes back immediately after deleting (all 3 codes actually do that). i replaced the ELD entirely tho from a known good fuse box from a very honest and good used car parts place in my area. could my plug to the eld be corroded possibly or a short in the eld wiring ? i’m not sure what else would cause it the only threads i could find were the fuse 15 problem and the harness rubbing the IM issue.

also the speedometer works 50/50, there’s corrosion on the back of it that i cleaned but because i don’t have ac moisture builds up a little more and makes it act up a little more. i know i have to replace the speedometer portion of my cluster to fix that but the speed sensors all work, and even when the speedometer is working the d4 still flashes

When the O2 sensor shorted did you check the wire to see if it had been pierced that is coming from the inside of the body of the car where the O2 sensor plugs into? I'd also check again to make sure fuse 15 didn't blow again. If it was pierced did you tape up the exposed part of the wire? It doesn't seem like there is an issue with the transmission and more of an electrical issue with either the wiring or circuit. I would try disconnecting the o2 sensor on the cat to see if it makes a difference and then clear codes. How did you verify that the VSS is still working? Do you have a scan tool that you can use while driving to see if it spazs out with the reading? I would clean the corrosion if you can in the connectors with electrical contact cleaner to see if that helps, if not then I would also do some continuity tests with a multimeter for the wiring on the transmission to the ecu as well as the ELD, Possibly try using the old ELD for testing if needed. Try to use the service manual to find wiring diagrams to test and troubleshoot if you can.

yeah so the wires were frayed to the o2 sensor and i just completely unplugged them until i got new sensors. one is fixed the other is still unplugged. even with them unplugged i still have a flashing d4 and the eld code. i reset it while they were unplugged and they always come back immediately there is no delay of the codes not being there they immediately come back. i have a scan tool and originally my first trans had the speed sensor code and when replacing the trans which has virtually all new sensors the code never came back. that’s what a friend told me to do is check the wiring to see if it’s shorted or broken somewhere along the harness. i do have a scanner but it’s one of those cheap ones that doesn’t show live data
