Default 1996-97 Ignition Switch compatiblility

Hello all, I was looking to replace the ignition switch in my 96 civic, but the easiest switch to find is part # 35130-S04-305, which I see is compatible with the 98-00 civics. Since the ignition switch assembly is seemingly the same from 1996-2000, would it be safe to use this part in my 96, or are there wiring or other differences I should be aware of before proceeding? Thank you for your time.

To the best of my knowledge, the only difference between the ignition switch pigtails in Civics from 1992 to 2000 is the orientation of the wiring in the brown plug that connects to the under-dash fuse box... (as well as the zip-tie clips that secure it to the column and under-dash wiring). You can purchase the '98-00 version and simply compare the wiring order to your current one... move any wires necessary, and plug it into your car. All will be fine.

Thanks, I seem to have (maybe temporarily?) solved my finicky switch issue by liberally spraying brake cleaner into my lock cylinder. If this fails in the future I will report back my progress on the switch replacement 👍

UPDATE: My temp solution did not end up holding up, obviously it wouldn't have worked since my issue was with the switch, not the lock cylinder, but I went ahead and replaced the switch with a part # 35130-S04-305 and it fits my 1996 ignition assembly perfectly.
During installation, it is important to swap the blue wires from your old sumitomo/multi-lock connector to the new one, which involves pushing a pick into the sides of the white inner sleeve to slide it out, then depressing a tab inside the plug while simultaneously pulling it out gently. Everything is plug-and-play. For anyone who ends up stumbling onto this thread later through google, part # 35130-S04-305 fits 1996-1997 / 96-97 Honda Civics perfectly.
