We have ordered a used TCM to stop the D4 blinking. It's not here yet. The car seems to run fine and shift fairly smoothly. So we'll see.
Now we have an ignition switch issue.
Sometimes it just doesn't kick over and you have to turn the key 5 or 6 times before the starter engages
Today the key got stuck in the ignition and wouldn't turn back past 2 dots.
I'm thinking the tumbler. Fairly inexpensive although I'm sure it it not fun to get to. The full switch and leads say "reprogramming required" but in 1995? Really? I didn't know anyone did transponder keys in 95.
To my knowledge, "special keys" were not required until 1998.
I know that a 1997 accord does not have one for sure.
I watched a few vids and they didn't say anything about programming. I ordered the switch from rock auto and got the wiper switch too. Someone had broken it thinking it was something other than a rigid stalk.
Do you have a v6 accord or the 2.2? If you look at my other thread I'm having some issues figuring out how the "lower" radiator hose is kept from flopping around under the hood. I found a bracket I just don't know what it gets bolted to and in what orientation.
I want to make clear that there is a distinct difference between the ignition switch base and the tumbler. A key issue could be cause by either. You might need the take the covers off the column and examine exactly what you need 1st, but that is just me.
I saw your other thread and that hose goes inside the curve of that bracket in the picture. Squeeze it and put it inside the half circle. ????
That bracket bolts to the top of the starter on her ride. I just went and looked. It is an automatic with a non- nippondenso starter. The orientation is that of a reverse letter "C"

I think this aftermarket starter simply has no attaching point for the bracket. So they just let it flop.
I'm fairly sure it's the switch, not the tumbler. The tumbler turns just fine but sometimes it simply doesn't make the connection to signal the starter relay.
Either way it's much easier to get to than the car my GF used to have, a 2013 VW beetle. I did the tumbler on that and it was PITA! Star bit screws and anti theft rounded bolts I had to drill out to dismount the tumbler from the column. Ugh She rolled it a few weeks ago. Thankfully she was unhurt.
