Rear body panel remove /install

Default Rear body panel remove /install

Can someone please point me in the right direction of how to remove the rear body panel without damaging it and possibly the best route to go as far as replacing it any information will be greatly appreciated thanks in advance.

just trying to keep it on the road it only has 87,000 miles on it all the original well it was.

To remove the panel, a lot of spot welds have to be drilled out. A center punch is used on the spot weld, then the spot weld is drilled out.

Ok thank you very much. will I need a air hammer / chisel, angle grinder or sawzall?

It actually will be really difficult to remove the rear panel without damaging it.

An air chisel may also be needed.

i think it would be possible to save the good one. It would certainly take care, and alot of work to remove the good one. I haven't done it myself though. They also have "spot-weld" bits that are designed to remove spot welds. i'd still center punch and maybe pilot drill the exisiting spot welds. Alternatively, i have seen people just sawzall the rear of the car and weld it on, instead of removing the panel "by the book". I'm not sure how good of an idea that is, but i presume its easier to remove. Installing it doesnt seem as straight forward.

Can you pull out the existing damage? I myself would atleast try that before cutting into two cars
