Blower Motor Assembly Replacement
Hello, Honda forums! Back in December, the blower motor assembly in my '91 Accord went kaput. I've looked into guides to replacing it, but I have a few questions that I would like to ask before I go forward with this.
1. What resources do people know of to find car parts? I'm aware of car-parts.com, but the selection of compatible blower motor assemblies in my area listed on that website is rather skim, so I would like to know if there are any other places I could look.
2. I visited the mechanic that I usually take my car to today, and he quoted me with ~$1600 to replace it. I won't make any comments about whether or not that's reasonable, as it's not my business, and no one is forcing me to go there. However, I would like to know if it would be reasonable for me to expect finding a lower quote somewhere else. From what I can tell the part itself is <$200, and it shouldn't take more than half a day to go through the process of replacing it, so I was expecting a quote in the 400-800 dollar range. Do you think I could find a shop willing to do it for that much, or is that naive of me?
I would appreciate any advice that anyone could give on the subject!

My reference info says that this has a book time of 4 hr with AC. So whatever the labor rate is in your area........
If there is no evaporator to remove, then it will be easier.....Remove the glove box and proceed to take out the box with the motor in it. That's the procedure that I have, but look to verify. If your AC doesn't work then you don't have to worry about "freon" leaking........Honda part number is 79310-SM4-A01. Shop around and find the part or its equivalent that suits you. One seller on E-bay has it for $90. Rock Auto has some for <$20, but beware aftermarket parts. Good luck, but you could probably do better than the quote you got. I would do this myself if the AC is not working
