Hi all- I recently noticed a new leak below my 2009 Civic making its mark on my driveway. Would appreciate input from those more experienced than me with diagnosing the source of the leaks.
Issue 1: I recently noticed fluid spots on my driveway and am not sure if it is power steering fluid or oil. When inspecting from the underside near the serpentine belt side, I see fluid on the underside of the power steering pump(first photo below) BUT also notice oily surface higher up (second photo, red circled area). Power steering fluid level is not dropping rapidly but the pump does appear to be the most likely source. That said, I want to be sure I address the real source and avoid incorrect assumptions which could get expensive.
Question: Is anyone aware of a known issue with 8th gen Civics which is the likely source of this leak?
Issue 2: When checking all fluid levels, I noticed there is a new presence of fluid around the transmission fluid dipstick which appears to be oil but I'm not positive about that(photo below) It's difficult to see where this is coming from due to so many components above the space. The dipstick has always been properly seated so I am confident the fluid did not appear as a result of loose or misplaced dipstick.
Question: Any idea why there would be fluid in this area? Is there a known issue with 2009 Civics which could explain this?
Thanks in advance for input on the source of these leaks!
