Default Help me with my brake system upgrades (91 EF sedan)

I am looking for some help with my brake upgrades on my Bswappd 91 sedan

I scored a GS Integra parts car and I plan to swap over the rear training arms and e brake cables. Up front I intend to swap over the spindles and hubs and do a CRV/Mini Cooper big brake upgrade.

My question lies with the Master cylinder. booster and the prop valve and tangentially ABS delete

Out of my parts pile, what should I use:
The EF sedan prop valve or the Integra? If the Integra PV do I have to consider the fact that I do not have ABS (nor want it)
The EF Master Cyl or the Integra - and which booster? I think the actuating rods are different lengths so I assume the boosters need to stay with their corresponding MCs(?)

I will be doing a brake line tuck with hardlines inside the car so I am cool using whatever parts are correct

Anyone have personal exp with these changes? Did you have any issues? Lessons learned?

PFA

No, you really can't do this. It won't work. Won't align, ever, back to normal. It's not going to work.

Assume you don't have a 90 EX sedan since you're not mentioning it. Those spindles are the best for big brake upgrade.

And what's interesting. Is that it has big Integra sized brakes up front. But drums in rear. And had a 3540 prop valve....

There's no rhyme or reason or straight answer on prop valves choice once you start ala cart in OEM parts.

4049 is recommended if you're going to copy big brakes up front and discs in rear with a larger master cylinder, just like an Integra DA.

As a more detailed description of that.
The location of the steering rack and length/position of the steering arm joint upon the knuckle changed when the EG Civic & DC2/4 Integra were released (75mm longer w-base, 50mm of that ahead of firewall).
So if you were able to bolt it on you'd have horrible bump-steer due to the resulting mis-alignment.

As suggested elsewhere the 2nd gen DA Integra knuckles are compatible with their relocated caliper mounting holes to allow the 260mm dia. Discs, with the caveat that the roll-centre with differ due to a change of the upper-A-arm mounting.
Hence why the EF Civic Si-R / iVT / Ex knuckles for those discs are so sought-after.
There may be alternative aftermarket caliper mounting brackets available for the ED knuckles to fit larger brakes?
Change of proportioning valve was to accommodate larger frt brake pistons of the Integra spec calipers (CRV/ type R bigger again ~as you would also need for 280mm Mini discs), but I believe there is little difference between rear discs & drums in that regard.

There's so much more than just bumpsteer that makes the later knuckles just wrong and worse.

It's the kingpin inclination, the positive camber, caster and spindle offset, etc. all the magic that makes an EF handle like magic is nutted with the wrong spindles.

It'll look like you can fix it all with some adjustable camber arms, but even that won't even be enough.

It's the 90-91 EX sedan knuckles everyone wants. Not SiR knuckles. Those aren't as directly compatible either and have their own issues on stock USDM EF front ends.

Fastbrakes still makes bolt on big brake kits to stock knuckles.

Thanks for the info. I still intend to use the DC2 rears for rear disks but I will abandon the idea of using the front spindles

Im currently running DA front spindles arms and caster was able to be zeroed out, camber was also able to although I run slight negative camber for canyons. Caster was also zeroed out. Current setup is DA front spindle with Type R calipers and mounting bracket using mIni cooper rotors. I used a prelude brake booster and 50-50 prop valve iirc. I have no issues with bumpsteer or positive camber. On that note I am running camber kits in the front and a traction bar with adjustable heim on the radius bar to zero out that caster.

someone did a test on these and was able to find that they work just fine. If you are serious about performance, you will probably get the traction bar with adjustable radius bars and the camber kits + a good alignment.

it will not be factory perfect if you only retain factory parts but with adjustable components it lets you dial it in better, so dont be scared and save a buck here if you want those big brakes.

PM me if you have any questions

Thanks man, Unfortunately DA stuff is unobtainium in NW Ohio. Rust killed off those cars a decade ago. DC2s are still around but I know that won't work. Ill keep an eye out for DA spindles but for now I'll keep the front stock. I will be buying adjustable stuff in preparation though
