Need help identifying a high-pitched sound from behind the steering wheel
I have a high-pitched whirring (or screeching/squealing) sound coming from my Civic and thought to ask here first before taking it to a garage. The clip does the best job describing it!
Only been occurring when it's cold. At about +3°C (37°F) it occurs occasionally, 0°C (32°F) more frequently and below that it starts to be more and more constant. Turning the steering wheel will either start or stop the sound, like it's only occurring on specific steering wheel positions more or less. Doesn't seem to matter what speed I'm going. Sounds like it's coming from somewhere behind the wheel but could be further down.
Could it be power steering related? It has EPS, no hydraulics there.
Honda Civic VIII Hatchback 2008 FK2 / 1.8 i-VTEC (petrol)
Any clue what it could be?
