Default 86 Si swap into 86 AWD Wagovan, easy or skip it?

Essentially the title, I have an 86 wagovan that I cant seem to keep running, and a couple 86-87 Si engines laying around as well as the body, so I had the idea of either throwing the whole Si engine into the wagovan or maybe finding a more simple solution like swaping the top end or something.

If anyone has any insight or can point more in the direction of some resources that would be awesome

Side note: ive also been curious as to how durable the the AWD system is on these wagovans, has anyone found out where the limit is on power and torque for these?

My concern would be the wiring harness difference between fuel injected and carbureted. (spelling?) If the harness connector for the engine harness is different from the carburetor, one you will have problems "tying" into the main engine harness back to the fuse box. Also if I recall correctly, the dash has a check engine light (PGM-FI) for the Si and there isn't one for the Wagovan to my knowledge. This would be a major project. If you don't have a lot of experience, I would not recommend it. Just my opinion.

Find out why the Wagovan is not running right if you can. My limited experience is that if you have spark and compression, the fuel delivery is the culprit, and see if a rebuilt carburetor swap out is financially affordable to try. Not saying that this will work, but that is where I would look based on my limited experience. Good luck!

Stick_fig5, where are you located? At least add your state to your profile, and maybe the region or city if you don't mind.
