Honda 2000 LX swapping from a f23a4 engine into a f23a
Hi to make a long story short my car (honda accord lx 2000) originally had a f23a4 engine. We bought a f23a engine and did an engine swap but the crucial part thats making us have problems is that none of us knew the original engine was a f23a4 and not a f23a1 (which was dumb on our part)…so we stripped all of the f23a1 engine parts and replaced all the parts with the f23a4 parts(we even used the f23a4 wiring harness because the one that came with the f23a engine was cut)…. Which already sounds even more dumb on our part but keep in mind this was before the realization my car originally had a f23a4 engine and NOT the f23a like we thought it was). No surprise but after the engine swap the car idles ROUGH. We thought switching the ECU would fix the problem so we took one off a car that had a f23a engine and got it programmed from honda and put it in the car and then the engine lights starts flashing and all this mess. We later then realized the engines are not the same and only swap two things back that was originally in the f23a1 engine which was intake manifold and fuel injectors.. then we gave up and sent it to the shop and yup they diagnosed everything that we couldnt even think of but the number one problem is cylinder #1 having misfires. They performed a compression test which has good compression (125psi) and its getting spark as it should. The shop thinks its valves but theyre also lost on whats wrong with the car and whats making it idle rough. They have done more and swapped a lot of parts back into the f23a engine but the car is also having a major oil leak. Im just so lost and have no hopes the car is going to even be able to run again! It shuts off when its stopped at a stop sign which is not good </3. I just need to hear that maybe i should be losing hopes on my car as sad as it sounds.
