99 Si speed sensor
Bought a speed sensor that matches my old one except for the length of the hold down arm.
It’s a quality item with a metal gear and not plastic. $88
It’s a Matsushita model which apparently that’s what the Si needs. It fit except the arm was too long.
Ordered a different brand/vender all together and there’s was garbage. Plastic gear, wrong connector, different head, etc. $26.
So I’m wondering if I can just modify the hold down arm on the $88 one or is it longer for a reason. The vendor was not able to verify if that’s the case between the two models listed below.
This is what the $88 vendor told me:
The one I need. 1815549 Nippondenso
The one i purchased :1815560 Matsushita Denshi.
Thanks
Do you have a USDM "Si" or a Canadian "Si" ? More simply - do you have a DOHC or SOHC engine ? If you have the SOHC engine, do you have an automatic or manual transmission ?
The "Si" in Canada is like the USDM "EX" which is available with either transmission.
The different length for the hold-down tab differentiates the sensors for auto or manual transmissions. SOHC and DOHC manual transmissions will use the same style sensor... the SOHC auto transmission uses a different one. YOU purchased the wrong sensor.
