Default Under the cowl question

We were cleaning the cowl on a 95 Civic DX on the passenger side there's this little air vent flap thing trying to find out what it is we pushed it open to look but it wouldn't come back up and then we put everything back together just wondering if that's okay if it's still cracked open I'll post pics

That is the recirc/fresh air flap door... it is controlled by a button or slider on your HVAC control panel.

so if I push the button it should close it? Cuz we couldn't close it manually LOL also if the cowl was clogged does the rainwater get in that way through that flap door cuz the whole passenger side was flooded either I left the window open or I don't know
