1993 honda accord lx, after coolant change I get leak from weep hole
Today, I decided to do a coolant change. I took 1 gallon out, and put 1 gallon in. I ran the car for a while with a funnel. I thought I got all the air out.
But something weird is happening. Soon after this happened. I got a small drip leak from the weep hole. When I researched this on the internet. It says it's because of a bad water pump. But that doesn't make sense since I recently replaced the water pump, and timing belts last February of last year 2024.
Does anyone know why this is happening and what should I do? Is this leak temporary? I used the same brand as I always do, so I don't know if it is the coolant. I don't think I overfilled it. I put a gallon in the radiator and just put a tad more in the funnel. I'm not sure what's going on.
By the way, it was AISIN TKH-007 Engine Timing Belt Kit with Water Pump, and the only thing I didn't use in the kit were the balance and timing belts. I went with OEM. The bearings were KOYO. The parts should have been quality regardless. Something doesn't make sense, but I think it might be the water pump.

This happened to me also on my 97 Accord. It went away as of now, but I am not saying yours will. Monitor it.
I am saying that this is not a one time event based on my experience. Sometimes you can pressure test the coolant system and the weep hole at the bottom of the water pump will leak and sometimes it won't.. If it leaks profusely, your aftermarket water pump probably needs to be replaced.

Good luck
Thanks
How long did your leak last before it went away? I want to hold off on just switching a water pump that is still 1.5 years old.

Once normal engine temperature is reached put on some leather gloves and ideally squeeze the main radiator hose bringing in coolant from the engine to the radiator. If it feels quite stiff you may have combustion gases putting extra pressure into your cooling system and that may be facilitating coolant leaking where in past it hadn't.
Either that, or the water pump seal has a cut mark in it that wasn't noticed before install.
Or, its normal to have al little coolant seeping out of the weep hole, check the short video below:

My experience with this goes as follow:
I noticed a fluid on the ground under the car...I crawled under and determined that it was antifreeze from the weep hole. I cleaned it off with a rag and used air from the compressor to clean everything off "better." I drove it from then on, and I have not seen anymore fluid under the car, but I haven't crawled under the ride again. If I don't see fluid on the ground under the car, I blissfully carry on.

Actually, I got it wrong. The leak was coming from another connector pipe. Honda 19505-PT3-A00 Pipe, I think that is the part. I'm assuming I have to take this pipe out from underneath the car . And the only thing I do on top, is remove the thermostat housing and then go under the car pull the pipe from both ends? How hard is this job? I did see a video on youtube of a guy removing the thermostat housing on this honda 90 to 93. But I didn't really find a guide for this particular car. I did find one for a prelude on these forums. I think it's the same concept.
