I have a situation where one of the studs is broken off where the pickup tube connects to the oil pump. There is about 1/4" of stud exposed. Assuming I can remove it, hopefully without removing the oil pump again, would the same type of stud used for the oil pan work on this application? Or is it a different length ect? Any tips or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
If there is enough of the stud exposed, try soaking it with penetrating oil and removing it using locking pliers or a stud extractor. A little heat can help if it’s stubborn. The pickup stud isn’t the same as the oil pan ones, so it is best to replace it with the correct OEM part to avoid fit or sealing issues.
If you get a grip on it go back and forth lightly at first the torque will create friction on the threads at a micro level . I've found on some things Honda has it's own type of threads so the dealer/ or scrap yard may be the only option . Also hood bolts on these cars will easily snap too .
