Sat for 5 years then sat for 4 more years ... But in a different location!
This 94 wagon sat forever, I got it for free but then COVID hit and my shop was the only one open so I was slammed. Things kind of quieted down, but more importantly, this little guy was in the way of an office trailer my dad wants to pull off the property.
Gnats have been having orgies of death in here as well as mice, and the smell is....
First thing is get it started so I can see what kind of parts money is going to be involved before cleaning or replacing interior parts.
Was getting no power to fuel pump, traced it to relsy. Now I have power there but fuel pump still dead. Going to try to clean out tank best I can while pump is out.
I cut an access hole up top, I'm in the rust belt.
Re: Sat for 5 years then sat for 4 more years ... But in a different location!
If mice were in it for that long I would be very concerned about the state of the wiring harness. From what I have read mice like to take up residence on top of the engine and cabin air filters. It would be a good sign if those locations were not filled with well lived in nests.
Since this is a rust belt car presumably you have had a good look underneath. Not much point in doing anything if the body is rusting out.

Absolutely! I can't think of anything in this car that I am *not* concerned about the mice chewing to shreds haha. At least now I have power and ground at pump.
This weekend I ran new nylon fuel supply line from new fuel pump to fuel filter, and realized I should also do a new filter.
Also ran new return line from pump to same area where filter is, and will be continuing that line this week as well.
The evap vent line that runs on top of tank saw what I was up to and fell apart, so of course that one will get replaced entirely haha
I got this car knowing fuel and brake lines were "shot" as previous owner called it, and so far no surprises in the fuel line part of this. My access hole is making completely replacing fuel lines easier.
Once I confirm fuel system safe, will try to start it and go from there.
Going in order of:
"will it start" repairs: air, fuel, spark (I suspect a lot of mice issues will be involved in this step haha)
to "will it run" repairs: massive leaks or running conditions, cooling system
To "will it kill me or others on road" repairs: tires, brake system
To "this mouse pee smell is so gross I'm going to die" repairs
Then comes registration and driving on my property, but that's a ways off
