Hi guys, first post so I apologize if anything is wrong.

I was wondering if anyone could help me diagnose and issue I'm having...

I have just finished a b18 swap on my eg civic and Im having an issue where if I'm on vtec and allow the car to decel it will make a horrible grinding noise. It doesn't make any noise on acceleration nor does it make noise if I don't push vtec.
It also happens if I drop the clutch whilst in motion and rev the car.

I'd like to add, yes probably not best to continue driving the car whilst it's making the noise but I wanted to try and diagnose as much as I could and get some videos.

My first honda so hopefully I can learn something.

First get it on ramps and a buddy to run the car. Then get under the hood and underneath the car and see if you can point better at where exactly the sound is coming from.

From your description im leaning towards valve train noise. Have u taken it apart lately? If it is directly related to vtec, pull the solenoid and check if its filter is plugged. Check your oil pressure, that's how vtec operates, if ur pump is jacked it can affect it.
If the noise isnt coming from valve train, then most likely a clutch/throw out bearing
