Has anyone ever done anything this stupid?
So I'm looking for a place to mount my new manual boost controller...I found the perfect place. I'll just use this bolt connected to this A/C piping, it's right above the wastegate, perfect!
Well, I guess you know what happens next!
It was like Old Faithful going off! Freon went everywhere. I just sat there waiting for the pressure to go down, but it didn't so I just retightened the bolt. That **** is greasy! It got all over the front of the engine compartment, underneath the hood especially and even some of the bumpers and fenders. I washed my car about 10 minutes after this happened, but is this stuff corrosive on the paint or toxic to me? I feel a little sick. I ran my A/C later on that evening to defog the windows and it seemed ok, but can I buy freon in the store to refill it?

not to scare you or anythng, but freon contains a substance called R-134a which is carcinogenic (cancer-causing)...I hope you washed that **** off real well.
I did that.
When I bought my CRX, the lady that I bought it from told me that the A/C was broken and hadn't worked in years. So, I used my impact on the bolt that holds the a/c line to the compressor...holy cow.

im surprised you didnt pass out. freon makes you do that. some, huh, "friends" have done it before.
there is lubricant in your compressor and lines so you might have to get your freon refilled and also add some lubricant. Im sure a lot of people have done this when wrapping their lines, including me.

Its okay it happens to some people, make sure that you always wear safety goggle every time you work.. Your neighbors might make fun of you but its better than loosing an eye.

If you think that's dumb, in my early "tunerz" years, I mounted an MSD Blaster 3 coil to the plate that goes over the ECU...
Don't ask; I still don't know why I did it.

**** happens...There are morons out there that open their radiator cap while their car is overheating....

lol, I was working on turbo'ing my car and had a couple friends over and taking out the a/c was on the list of things to do and my friends new it, so while I was bent over looking in the bumper on how to run the intercooler pipes my idiot friends thought it would be funny to see if I jumped. So they un-did the ac line on the drivers side right by that metal canister. I also happened to be about 4 inches from it. Scared the **** out of me and I went screaming like a little sissy out of my garage into the house and straight into the shower to wash the **** off my leg! j/k about the ****.....
but hey, it happens to the best of us. You can't learn without making mistakes. I even lost the O-ring on my FPR and tried to start my car without it. After shooting fuel all over the motor, I went and tightened the FPR bolts and snapped one off in the rail. Then I took it out and realized the O-ring was sitting on the radiator cap!
me!

Hahahaha this is so funny. Reminds me of the time my friend and I were trying to take off his DC header from his civic and we couldn't get the right angle, so we decided to remove the acline from the bracket, or so I thought, and just move it around to get the header out. Little did I know, that crap was spraying EVERY WHERE, it was inside my garage and it smelled like crap. We ran outside and watched as it just kept spewing out from his engine bay. The haze afterwards was NUTS! I felt pretty dirty and his car felt pretty weird. Boy, what an experience that was.
A few years back I had a misshap with a nitrous line and kinda made my engine bay look a little cloudy. But I did have a smile on my face
