What is this?
Is that just a wire that pushes on to a temperature sensor?
That looks like a brass sensor screwed into the block.
I think it is being dripped on or collecting oil, rather than leaking oil.

Incorrect. They are servicable from 1976-2002, with the kit posted below. Both internal and external coil units.
I have replaced the inner seal on two of them.
They sell a kit specifically for this.

Same process as this,

For what it's worth, that information was not very hard to find.

I serviced the one in our 1998 Accord EX (4 cyl). There were two complications. The first was getting the right size O-ring for the inner seal, and I guessed wrong the first time and had to get a different size and do it again. The second is that on that particular distributor there is a pin which must be pressed out and pressed back in. It wasn't like in the linked video where the pin just fell out.

To get that pin out I used one of these:

and to put it back in parts from the above device and a big C clamp. Because the HF device wouldn't open wide enough fit the part and the pin in.

The roll pin can be tapped out with a small punch and a hammer, and the external ring can be removed carefully with a small flathead screwdriver or a small pick.
The mixup with the oring size can be avoided by buying the kit linked above, commonly available at all the chain parts stores, which includes the correct oring and 2 internal seals that differ slightly on the ID size.
They sell the kit because once the oring hardens and starts to leak, not long after the internal seal will start to leak as well.
