transmission solenoid stuck "on"
trying to fix a friends car. its a 1998 accord 2.3 f23a1 non-ulev. AT 4 speed
looking at trans live data shows shift solenoid b as ON at all times.
while driving i observe the transmission requesting the correct gears and solenoids A,C, and D turn on and off depending on which gear is requested but solenoid B stays on
unplugged solenoid and observed 12 volts on at all times
checked resistance at 17.5 ohms. can hear an audible click when backprobe to battery
even unplugged the live data shows it being on and supply voltage to connector.
anyone know if this is normal or think there's wire damage or and ecu failure?
transmission feels good in first gear but when shifting to 2nd it just slips and wont shift
if i switch to neutral then back to d4 while in motion, it shifts to 3rd and grabs but doesnt feel great and wont shift back to 1st at a standstill.
shifting to neutral and back to d4 at a standstill will put it back into 1st but thats how i have to drive it to make it back home
if someone has a similar car and can check live data or voltage to see if theirs has power at all times. i just want to rule this out if its not an issue.
the shift solenoid in question is the black plug right under the torque converter lock up solenoid. green white positive black negative
