Re: Redtiger Giveaway! Share Your Road Trip Map — Win a Dashcam Plus More!
How about a road trip I took with a buddy of mine over ten years ago? We took a trip to the Black Hills to ride the trails and see the sights. As you can see, its almost entirely straight Interstate across the wasteland that is western Minnesota and eastern-central South Dakota, in a diesel Dodge Ram towing a couple of ATVs behind us. Why is this road trip remarkable? Because we made it so much worse by forgetting to bring any music with us. So we had to rely purely on one or two radio stations across this featureless wasteland, which might not be so bad, except these places were so sparsely populated that we were lucky pick up one station. And that station would swing wildly between genres. One song would be modern Pop music, the next would be really old Country music.
The whole drive, my buddy kept saying "its all part of the story." And he was right. As painfully boring as that drive was, we still bring it up and laugh about it regularly. Ever since then, when I am on a trip and things aren't going as planned, I reply with "its all part of the story." My family probably gets sick of hearing it, but its important to remember that things always go wrong when you travel. You have to learn to just roll with it and remember that even the "bad" parts can produce some great memories that last a lifetime. And you can be certain we never forgot to bring music/entertainment on any trip since then.
