What can cause headlights to burn out?

What can cause headlights to burn out?
i had a set of piaa's burn out on me. the low beams went out. then i drove around on the high beams. then those burnt out.
so i swapped in the oem ones. now the low beam of the left one blew out. what the heck?
what can i check?
and also can u guys check if your cars do this.
when i start my car and turn on the heater. the A/C light is on. when i haven't used that since the summer or defrosting. is it suppose to be on everytime u start the car and turn the heater on?

Are you touching the bulbs when you put them in or when you took them out. That can shorten the life of the bulbs greatly. As for the heater, the only time my a/c comes on is when I have the defrost on. Sorry I couldnt help more.

check the harness that goes to your bulbs as well for cracks and breaks! i know a kid that had this problem in an EX and we replaced the bulb harness and everything is fine now!

how much are the harnesses? because i've ordered HID's phillips. before i put in the oem. but since those blew. im scared now.......

go 2 the junkyard !!! they will probably charge 5 bucks a piece! most honda's are th same so just look till you find a match and then cut the wires! make sure to cut more than you think you would need!

i've checked the fuses today, their fine. i looked over the grounds and ones kinda dirty. I'll be cleaning that soon.
also to add...the lights would be dimming alittle and flickering.

is your car lowered?
mycar rides really rough and ive had the problem in the past of bumps and ditches rattling teh bulb filaments to death
ive got piaa bulbs in there now which have lasted me a while but it was a problem before

this is my stock beater car.
not lowered. stock wheels stock everything.
i did notice a little play. how can i stop that?
do i need to buy a new headlight assembly? and new socketss?
