So I just started my project of a eg hatch that’s been sitting for 15 years now and it’s my dad’s car. so I’ve been trying to get the engine to run which shouldn’t be much of a task. But the rust is the real issue it’s gonna need new quarters and rockers but would it be worth it to fix since I’ve found a few people on marketplace willing to try. Shells for civics that are almost bare cost around 5k in Ontario Canada so would this be more viable. Photos attached it’s been dictated by my dad cause it’s an eyesore so some are older pics

The labor alone is going to be well beyond $5000. If you can find a clean rust free shell that is probably the better route.

 

Agreed, a shell would be the way to go. Damn, that poor EG has been eaten up! Hope the frame / unibody is still in good condition..?

 

Its canadian rust when you let salt sit on it the unibody frame and even the floors are surprisingly good, Now onto the shell search which is tough I also would be interested in shells in the new york, Connecticut virginia area since its not too far from Toronto canada.

 

I’m sure the rest of the car has its share of rust. Ditch it and find one with NO-rust…even if you have to travel a good bit for it.
