1997 Honda Torneo Sir-t Overheating
Hello everyone! My name is Nicholas and Im from Las Vegas. Ive had my 97 Torneo for about a year now and just recently it started to overheat, or at least thats what my cluster said. I replaces the water pump, timing belt, crank shaft seal, radiator, thermostat, sensors and even bled the system for any air. I would drive it about 30 minutes going 80mph and its fine. I turn the car off for about 20 minutes but when I try to turn it back on the temperature gauge starts to climb. I let it sit for another 10 minutes and itll spike all the way to red line and fall down to operating and im able to drive again. When its at operating temperature, I full blast A/C and the fans turn on and even turn on when the A/C is off. No coolant leaks anywhere so im wondering what this could be?
Thermostat installed correctly?
When you bled the system did you bleed it at the thermostat housing bleeder nipple or just burped the system?
Is the engine actually overheating or is it just a wiring issue?
Thermal gun and radiator pressure tester would help in diagnostics.
Have you pulled any of the plugs to check for condition?

There are two fans, make sure both are operating.
I live in Los Angeles, sitting in traffic with the AC on. The AC comes on, the AC fan comes on. The 1st fan did not. The car would overheat.
So check both fans,
Id also recommend Honda Anti Freeze.
remember water boils faster than the Antifreeze.
so has the coolant that’s being used been watered down.
I’ve checked all that and then I also installed an all Aluminum radiator.
my 96 EX 5sp does not overheat.

Thermo sensor for the fan timer is located on the thermostat housing
Verify the sensor is good and the wire harness is not damaged.
And the harness grounds are good.
