Default 1995 accord lx non vtec 5-speed will intermittently turn over but not start

Hey guys, so as stated above, my 95 accord will sometimes spin over but won’t start up. Once it starts up, it runs perfectly fine. The other thing I’ve noticed is that the engine light will stay on and when it finally goes off, the fuel pump kicks on and the car cranks right up. I’m going to leave a list of things I’ve already replaced with brand new parts because I’ve been chasing this problem for 2 years and I’m waving the white flag now lol.

new distributor
new plugs and wires
new ignition coil
new fuel pump assembly
new fuel pump/main relay
new fuel filter
new ecu
all new ground wires in engine bay
new battery and starter
new ignition switch
all new fuses and relays in fuse box under the hood

this problem still persists despite all this and it’s quite frustrating to say the least. The issue does seem more frequent when it’s very hot outside or after it rains. Any advice or ideas are greatly appreciated, this car has a lot of potential and is very fun to drive but this starting issue makes me wanna push it into a lake and forget about it lmao

still sounds like a bad main relay, so maybe it's loose or faulty wires or connectors at the relay or ECU. even though you have a new one you'll want to verify it works right and reliably with a meter.

when it won't start, check 12v supply to the ECU, power from the ECU to the relay and power at the pump and a key-on 12v somewhere on the engine like a fuel injector.

in the future start by picking up one of these which walks you through the troubleshooting without speeding hundreds on parts. this listing even has the electrical troubleshooting supplemental!

So I got this main relay conversion kit as a last resort and the car STILL gives me starting issues 🤦‍♂️ I’m about to give up on this car and just accept the fact that I’m stuck with it forever because nobody is gonna buy a car that starts when it feels like it. And no, I'm not going out and buying a multimeter and ripping the dash apart and testing every single wire in the ignition system so don’t even bother mentioning it. I’m a old school mechanic not an electrician lol. With all new ignition system the car should ******* start anytime anywhere but it’s a useless piece of **** and I’ve never had a car be this unreliable and this much of a headache…..get a Honda they said, they’re fun and simple they said….yeah right. My Toyota can drive circles around this crappy Honda and unlike this hunk of **** Honda, my Toyota doesn’t take every dollar I make. Good luck with these raggedy Hondas and this unresponsive forum guys, I’m done ✌️

Did you replace the igniter? It's not integral on the B2 distributor.

A meter would have made your life a lot easier.
If when cranking the tach doesn't move then the ECU is not receiving or sending a signal.
Most likely an issue with the main relay or ignition switch.
But since you've replaced both, along with ever other electrical components, this is most likely a wire issue.
Either a missing, loose, corroded or damaged ground or power wire.

Does the car have, or had, an aftermarket alarm or other device?
Crappy installation/removal of such systems, including LoJack, will cause all sorts of issues.
Same with aftermarket audio installations.

sorry you’re going thru this. When I bought my 94 accord I thought the same thing. I’m getting a Honda that I’m told is very reliable when maintenance correctly but I’ve been under the hood from overheating issues to transmission to distributor to the darn sensors even valve cover.
my car wouldn’t start at times too but it was an aftermarket alarm system that kept it from starting so I had someone cut it out but I ended rigging my fuel pump to a fuse for the pump to come on. ***** wack I know but there’s potential in this car and I’m learning about these Hondas.
