Default B17A1/B16A

Hey guys, I have a 92 ex civic sedan,

I bought it with a b17A1 swap and usdm gsr trans.
it eventually developed a dry start so I pulled it apart to find 2 main journals were a little scorn but not horrible. But I didn’t wanna leave it that way so I went to several shops to try and get the crank micro polished to smooth it out and everyone told me it wasn’t worth fixing.

you all know that these cranks were only built for 2 years and I wanted to save it by any means so I kept searching and couldn’t find anyone to do it.

so here it what I did. I bought a Jdm b16a crank/rods/and pistons. And rebuilt the bottom end that way. I also added some skunk 2 LMA’s and ferreah 5000 series valves, supertech seals,

I get the engine back in the car and it will spin over but not run. (Baffled) at this point like wtf was done wrong. Checked compression it was good. 190 across the board. So no bad ring seating or valve seating. I checked the timing and it was perfect. As I triple checked it before putting it back in.

i retarded to distributor and it fired right up. Power loss none the less but fired up. Runs smooth.

my question or dilemma (however you want to put it. Is this. Since I went with the b16a crank should I have changed the oil pump as well to b16a (because I don’t know if maybe the timing marks on the pump are different) if they are please let me know. Because the only way it will run is with the distributor all the way retarded. So I know it’s a timing issue but is it the marks are different from b17a1 to b16a or irks the oil pump timing gear mark different?

please any advice would be greatly appreciated

TIA
