2000 civic EX, keep the D16Y8 or do a swap?
here's a thread talking about d series upgrades: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=335078. you may want to read it and ask yourself how much you are willing to spend and how fast you want to go. most people around here will tell you to swap. i giuess this argument also hinges on what you use your car for...
look into a b18c1 from a gsr. check out http://www.osakajdmmotors.com. they have great prices on motors.

The y8 engine is good to do all motor only if it is in a hatch. Other than that with amount of money you go saved i would probably get a B18c1. I am assuming that you don't know much about turbos (which would be my choice) and if you decide to go that route do alot a research and ask people that have already done it before. It will save u alot of headaches.
In the end it all comes down to how much power do u want out of your car.

LS/Vtec engine, it will also be the strongest if you ever turbo it, and it also won't cost you a fortune so you wil still have money to work with..
however to do a ls/vtec correctly, its going to cost more than you think. Unless you want to have something break on you.
Forced induction all the way!
Here's a dyno plot of an all motor D16Y8 vs a 7psi turbo setup.
The all motor had the following work: Headers, cat-back, CAI, ignition upgrade. Total cost of probably $1500 to $2000
The turbo setup was a turbo kit with a Garrett T28 turbo w/intercooler boosting at about 6.5 to 7 psi.
The dyno graph is a pic file on imagestation.

Thanks to all of those that have helped me and gave me suggestions. After ALOT of help from you guys and a little research I have decided to go with the B18C1. I had a friend at the honda dealership score me one through a connection of his, so I will pick it up this weekend. Before I swap it in, I am going to have new pistons, cams, and a few other things done to it, so I guess I got more research to do. Any suggestions on power let me know. Thanks again, All of you are awesome.
