Save me HT you're my only hope.

I've been trying to figure out the last bit of electrical gremlins for my del Sol. Previously, all of my turn signals, hazards, and the green blinkers on the dash used to work. Was test driving the car around the neighborhood and needed to pull over, so I hit the hazards. I heard something pop, and then no more lights. No dash lights blink when I push the stalk up or down, nor when I hit the hazards, nor do the associated lights in either the front or the back blink. have tried the following tests with these results, as mentioned in the Del Sol Manual in CH23 on the Turn Signal/Hazard Flashing System.

Fuse F43 (10A) intact, and showed no signs of damage. Same goes for F15 (10A). No signs of damage. I have replaced both for sanity however, with fuses that test correctly.
I have replaced all of the capacitors on the ICU with new capacitors of the same values. Some minor leakage was seen on one of the capacitors.
I have replaced the turn signal relay in the under-dash fuse box.
All the listed tests below were conducted on the 6p connector removed from the FR-3501 relay.
  • Test 1 - Terminal 6 - Continuity to Ground. There is Continuity to Ground. All grounds listed (G201, 301, 401, 551, 552) all have good continuity.
  • Test 2 - Terminal 1 - Voltage to Ground. There is voltage to ground, with around 11.3V. Battery could use a boost, but voltage is there
  • Test 3 - Terminal 3 - Hazard Switch On OR Ignition On w/ Stalk in Right Position. Both positions there is voltage to ground, with similar voltage to above. It starts high, but settles around the above listed voltage
  • Test 4 - Terminal 5 - Hazard Switch On OR Ignition On w/ Stalk in Left Position. Both positions there is voltage to ground, similar to test 3.
  • Test 5 - Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 - Right Signal Lights should come on. NO light in either front or rear come on when connector is jumped from 1 to 2.
  • Test 6 - Terminal 1 to Terminal 4 - Left Signal Lights should come on. NO light in either front to rear come on when connector is jumped from 1 to 4.
The Mitsuba FR-3501 relay doesn't click when hazards or stalk are on and the 6P connector plugged in, but if its part of the problem, I think its something that will need to be solved down the line, since I would expect Test 5 and 6 to report back working lights even without the relay being plugged in.

The hazard switch terminals have been tested with these results;
  • E-F Continuity in both positions is correct in both on and off positions
  • Both B-D & C-D Continuity is off in off position, on and correctly dioded in the on position
I am going slightly insane since this was supposed to be the last thing before I have it drivable, and I was hoping that HT had some leads before I start sticking my hands into crevices again to trace a potential break. I find it odd that basically none of these lights work, and all at once.

Thanks ahead of time HT!

Do you have an aftermarket head unit? If yes, remove it and check the wiring. Make sure the orange ILLUMINATION wire is capped off if not in use.

No head unit installed at all at the moment.

Have you tested voltage at the bulb connectors when Terminal 1 is jumped to Terminal 2?

No voltage at front right or front left turn signal connectors when the associated 1/2 & 1/4 terminals are jumped.

I have also noted that it is becoming more and more difficult to test for voltage at terminal 1,3 and 5 and I need to wiggle the 6P connector more and more to have the multimeter see voltage when checking voltage to ground.

You may want to check the wiring and connectors.

Some areas to start would be:

White/green wire from Connector C201 (under-side of under-hood fuse box).

White/green wire and Red/yel wire at Connector C435 (under-dash fuse box).

Ran some new wires temporarily to test this theory; Ran a new wire and crimped some new connectors for the WHT/GRN wire for the C201 connector to the C435 connector WHT/GRN still no dice, ran a new wire for red/yellow at C435 still no dice. I'm maybe wondering now if its a trace in the under-hood fuse box that might be broken, as I have no voltage at either fuse and inputs on both 43 and 42. Doing a jumper test from the WHT/GRN C201 terminal to battery also didnt see any flashing. The other downstream fuses 31-35 tested fine for voltage to ground. Is there a way to non-destructively crack open the under-hood fuse box to check the trace and maybe repair it? Underhood-fuse boxes seem to be getting scarcer and scarcer for the Del Sol based on listings I'm seeing, and I'm not sure if this particular fuse-box is interchangable with something like an EG / EJ/ EK.

New fuse box resolved it. I'll be cracking open the old fuse box for a postmortem and I'll post any relevant photos for anyone else who might be at their wits end.
