Default 2003 civic hybrid problems. Need help!

I have a 2003 Honda civic hybrid sedan. Automatic with the 1.3 liter. So I bought the car and was told it just needed the hybrid battery.

So I got a battery from a junk yard with “145,000” miles or that was what the car had. Not sure about battery.

so I watched a couple YouTube videos and did the swap and did it in the order this guy explained and put it all back together and still have the same issue. IMA system isn’t charging hybrid battery.

IMA is working because the 12v red light on dash goes off when driving and take rpm’s about 1300. But the gauge that shows the hybrid either charging or assisting doesn’t move either way when letting vehicle decelerate or light braking.

so I have check engine light, IMA light on dash is on as well as red 12v light.

ran scanner to read codes and it came back with 3 codes,

P1600
P1449
P0420

those are the 3 codes that come up. 0420 is catalyst system efficiency.

1600 indicates problem with IMA battery system

1449 indicates problem with ima battery system

so not sure which way to go with this. Not sure how to single out each section of hybrid to test what’s good and not good to pinpoint issue. Anyone had this issue before and fixed it? Or ideas on where to start.

I went though all that years ago with my 03 civic hybrid. Wasted a lot of time on use cells. Better to splurge and buy all new cells. Cost me a grand but the IMA issues went away . Been that way for about 5 years now too. Trying to get all those used sticks into balance and keep them that way is almost impossible with used cells.
