B16A2 swap into a 1997 Civic
I have a B16A2 engine that's OBD2A and an ECU from another car that's also OBD2A. I'm pretty sure it's not plug and play since it's from a different car. What do I have to do for the ECU to work on my engine?
If you have a 1997 Civic EX... then the wiring harness and ECU would be "plug-n-play"... however, in the US, there is no B16A engine harness for that model year (1997) and the only B16A ECU comes from a '96-97 Del Sol DOHC VTEC chassis... and those are pretty rare. Post the part number of the ECU that you have and make sure that the engine harness connects everywhere on the engine.

Yeah... that would have been helpful. USDM products do not pertain to your situation then... and I am not comfortable making any suggestions based on your market products. Just curious... if your market has a B16A2 equipped chassis that is the same model year as yours, why did you ask the question that you posed here ?

Does your car have an immobilizer ? Does the EK4 have an immobilizer ? If the answer is NO for both, then it will be plug-n-play. If the EK4 has an immobilizer AND your car has an immobilizer, then you will have to program your key and immobi ring to the new ECU.
If the EK4 has an immobilizer and your chassis doesn't, then you will have to either install the necessary wiring and immobi ring from the matching EK4 chassis to defeat the starting problem or remove the immobilizer components from the ECU without damaging it.
