Default Starter issue

Just bought a "new" 2002 Civic for my 16 year old daughter and I'm having a weird issue. I'm not a mechanic but I've worked on cars plenty enough. Having an issue with the starter, so I replaced it. But now the problem is that when we go to crank it up, we get a single click. Checked the battery and it's good and fully charged. It will crank when jumper cables are attached though. I replaced the starter twice. What could be causing it not to crank up? My next best guess is to replace the wiring from the battery to the starter, but I've never had to do that before. Can someone help?

Make sure you have a good connection to the battery and check your grounds and fuses. If that doesn't work, your next best bet would be to replace that wiring.

You didn't say if it was a standard or an automatic. If it's a standard check (or even better, wire out) the clutch starter cutout switch.
