Default Is this a fair price for the work?

Thank you for taking a look at my thread.

I have a 99 Accord V6.

I need all new breaks and rotors and 2 rear calipers. I am also having the air idle control module replaced. I was quoted $1900 cash parts and labor.

For good brand name, new not re-manufactured parts- all four rotors, pads and rear calipers, plus the IACV I'm seeing $350-400.

brakes will need to be bled after install and maybe an idle relearn/reset will be needed. For the sake of argument, I'll assume it's a rust-belt vehicle. 3 hours for the brake job and 1 for the valve. $120/hr is close to the national average I believe- so $480 for labor.

add in shop supplies and parts markup and you're close to a nice round $1,000 for that work.

I know some shops will quote high on electrical/engine control troubleshooting related to the IACV since it can sometimes take way longer than anticipated. but the extra $900 seems a bit extreme for that.

appreciate your assessment. Yes the car was serviced in New York City. Labor came out to $145 hour. I posted the bill if you wouldn't mind telling me what you think. I trust the shop and they have lots of awards and have been there for decades but ya I guess the price blew me back a bit but it must be the labor he charges.

I paid cash $1,840 at the end of the day.
