Default 2004 civic instrument cluster eeprom chip

I am very new to programming. I have a 2004 civic ex instrument cluster that I am trying to correct the mileage on. After using chat gpt i understand that I have to look for an EEPROM chip, I don’t seem to have it on my board(front or back). After explaining that to Dr. GPT, it told me the odometer information is stored on the motorola MCU chip. I have a 2005 civic DX cluster sitting around so I figured I’d open that one up and see if anything is different. But it’s the same deal, no EEPROM chip in sight. I ended buying a VVDI prog, anybody have any insight on this situation? Does the 2001-2005 civic instrument cluster not carry the 93C56 EEPROM chip?

I have attached photos of the MCU chips for the 2004 and 2005 instrument cluster
