Hey i know this question has been asked before elsewhere but I’ve not found a straight answer. I’m wondering if it’s possible to read codes without getting a USDM type r ecu. I’ve seen people say a code reader that supports JOBD would work (it did not for me). Most people say you can’t. I’ve even seen some say you can jump the blue pug and flash the CEL but I thought that was only for OBD1. Just curious if anyone was able to pull codes before.

 

The JDM Type R (P73) ECU functions just like an OBD-1 ECU even though it plugs into your OBD-2 style under dash ECU plugs. It does NOT communicate with the OBD-2 diagnostic port.

you can jump the 2 pin connector and count the blinks on the check engine light to get the codes
