Hi, I have a single-DIN 1997 Honda Accord cassette/radio head unit that I'm putting in a DIY boombox with a wood case and some cheap speakers and want to determine what kind of power supply I want for it. Obviously it has to be 12 volts, but I'm wondering about the wattage I need, so the amps of the power supply depend on that. The speakers I'm getting are quite cheap and advertise 140 watts max and what seems to be 70 watts RMS, so I'd prefer to be safe and go with a power supply that can handle 140W, so it'd need to be at least 12A for that. Regardless of that calculation, does anyone know how many watts the factory radio can put out? I doubt it's anywhere near what the speakers can do given my car's Alpine CDE-136BT does 18W RMS and is still plenty loud with no amplifier on my Pioneer TS-A692F speakers that are 90W RMS and 450W max.
RMS or max numbers are both fine, I just need a rough point of reference. Even without those, I'm still confident that a 12V 12A PSU would probably be overkill, but I like working with concrete information whenever possible. The part number of the head unit is 39100-SV4-A0000.
