2007 CR-V Sluggish
Hopefully someone can offer some advice! I bought my second Honda, a 2007 CR-V, several weeks ago. I've spent the last three weeks replacing various components that were worn out or nearly so: All four struts; all four brake disks and pads; all four hubs and bearings; tie rods, ball joints, sway bar connects; tensioner, water pump, alternator, power steering pump; spark plugs, upper and lower radiator hoses, thermostat; all four tires. I had it aligned a couple of days ago.
The engine is idling great and there are no codes. I took it for a sixty mile test drive yesterday and it ran reasonably well except it kept downshifting to maintain speed, which I had set at 70 mph on cruise. When going up even a slight rise in the road it would downshift, and then on somewhat steeper inclines it would downshift twice, into third, 3000 rpm. It just didn't seem to be able to maintain highway cruise speed; acted like I was towing a trailer.
My other Honda is a 2002 Civic Si with a 5 speed standard trans. It will cruise all day at 80+ mph in fifth gear and has a lot better acceleration. Granted it's a smaller car but both cars have almost the same engine (2.0 L for the Civic, 2.4 for the CR-V).
Anyway I've never driven a CR-V, this is new to me and so this may be normal for that car. It got decent mileage, 24.5 for the round trip. I'd like to hear from other CR-V owners - do these cars all drive this sluggishly?
In the meantime I'm gonna pull the wheels and look over everything one more time. The brakes seem to be working ok, nothing dragging or overheating. The car isn't running hot and there are no funny noises and no codes. And I checked, I don't have a trailer attached
.
Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can offer!
