Alrighty guys. Got a 1994 Honda Accord EX. It's been running a tad rough and idling low. A week or so ago it started knocking. Engine before always ran fine aside from the low/rough idle. I did a tune up at 304,500, NGK double platinum and Duralast wires. Oreiley's cap and rotor. As much as I fear a rebuild I'm trying to not go that route, time is not in excess for me nor is money. When it started knocking I checked the valve lash and found a couple wiggled more than they should. (F*cky wucky on my part with my last valve lash job) Chalked the noise up to that and limped it home. Today finally got around to adjusting the valve lash again and making sure everything was tight, Knock is still there. I ran a compression test today too and wanted to run the numbers by the forum and see how bad they are. 315,xxx (low hundreds) F22B1. Original engine and 5spd. When I pulled the plugs I noticed one was cleaner than the others. left to right is cyl4 and descending.
I ran 2 tests, 2 rounds each. Cold WOT and warm WOT. Cranked it until it stopped moving it on the fist cylinder and same number on the rest of the tests. 10 times bogged by the cylinder with the tester.
Cold #1 #2
Cyl 1 -139 149
Cyl 2 -136 131
Cyl 3 -123 125
Cyl 4 -150 151
Any tips and things to check will be appreciated. I plan to tear it down on the next clear day off to wiggle the pistons and bearings. If it's salvageable I'm going to build it a smidge (250-300hp goal) If it's toast H22 swap time. I know it's overdone but I want to try and build a pseudo SIR accord.
