Parasitic Draw b18b1 swapped 99civic lx .Any help would be appreciated.
Hi all, I am having the exact same issue as someone else and i changed the eld, alt, battery , charge harness and im still experiencing the same “parasitic draw” other then just making sure the charge harness is connected what else could be the problem ???
I recently buttoned up my ek with b18b1 and it’s running well. Once i started it for the first time, I noticed the battery light was on. After about an hour of driving the battery died and I had to bump start it. I thought it was the alternator so i replaced it, but it was not the issue. What i’m having is a weird parasitic draw, but it’s not acting on the car when it’s off. Only when the car is on will the battery drain extremely quickly. like 10-15 minutes it’ll go from 12.5V to 9. what could be causing my battery to drain rapidly when it’s on? The alternator, i had it tested outside of the car and it was good.

If you disconnect the charging wire from the alternator and then crank the engine, how much voltage is found at the charging stud ? If this is greater than 13 volts, turn off the car and reconnect the charging wire. Then, disconnect the charging wire from the under hood fuse box, restart the engine, and test the voltage again. If the voltage drops, you have a problem in the charging wire and you should replace it. I am unaware of any parasitic drag on the electrical system that would only occur when the engine is running... you have a charging system problem.
Thank you, I’ll check that tomorrow I didn’t try that yet, I had also bought 2 charge harness already but I’ll still test that tomorrow
are you sure the replacement alternator is good?
it still sounds like alternator issue to me.
you can also try to disconnecting the battery once the car is started. if alternator is good, it should keep the engine running even w/o the battery.
