coolant in oil car runs fine
A little info about car first, its a 1989 honda civic si hb with a b18a1 and has been sitting for a bout 3 years due to a person accident that made it so i couldnt work on it (it stopped cranking a week before my accident). I got it running again today (ignition wire to starter solenoid was gunked up and not making a good connection. Before it started i noticed the water level was super low which was expected (had been chasing a small leak) and oil level was fine. i topped off the coolant and cranked it up and let it warm up. when i turned it off i checked the fluids again and noticed the oil was chocolate shake brown but water level didnt change. it it possible it built up condensation from sitting that long or that the head and/or intake manifold gasket dried out while parked? the gasket are about 11 years old give or take a few months, not sure how many miles i put on it since installed.
Yea i changed to oil in it this morning and let it run and warm up and idle for about 10 minutes after it warmed up and it looked good. The old oil had started to clump up so imma run it a few more times and change it again to make sure its all good. So i guess b series motors will build up some condensation if it sits for a couple of years.
So ive been working on my car here and there (been busy with work) and i decided to do another oil change since i noticed my water level was low. Im definitely getting water into my oil (drained the oil and water came out first). Ive only let the car idle and warm up here and there no actual on the road driving and everything seemed fine, idled good, rev'd good no apparent issues. Now it did sit with water in it due to me chasing a leak so im wondering what could be the culprit could be, bad head gasket? cracked head? cracked block? bad water pump? Where i live at its hard to find b18a1 or b18b1. So if somethings cracked i would have to consider doing a different motor swap to be able to have access to parts. Or cut my losses if the head/block are cracked and get maybe an eg or ek (easier to find parts for) and do a fresh swap?
At minimum, it sounds like you've lost the head gasket.
Pull the head off, & check for 1 chamber and/or piston crown that's OBVIOUSLY cleaner than the others: if so, congrats - you've found where the leak is.
You may now start on a head pressure test, resurface & top end job.
