Hello, writing this post hoping to find some answers from Honda techs that got more knowledge than me.
I have a 2018 accord LX with the 1.5L
I initially had a U0122 for loosing communication to VSA modulator, checked wiring and brought it down to the being the modulator itself. Bought a “new” used VSA modulator and installed and semi bled the brakes for the time being. Was ready to do the brake bleeding procedure through my scan tool, when I noticed this code U3000-49 under the brake module section. I do not have access to HDS, so I’m not sure if this code is just there until i do all the calibrations as i bought a used part but has not been installed yet. The part numbers matched all the way across. Not sure i need to update the VSA to be able to communicate but really hoping i don’t have to buy another VSA. all of my previous codes that were there are not there. I do need to do immobilizer programming for the new module as well but just want to see if that code is just to update the modulator as i saw a previous TSB that it would just need the reflash, but that applied to a 2016 civic. Here are the codes after i installed the “new” VSA modulator.
The U3000-49 code is a likely indicator that the VSA has failed.
The other codes are a result of not coding the module to the vehicle.
Some manufactures do not allow for used modules.
Once they are coded to a VIN they are locked and can only be unlocked via internal circuit board repair.(sometimes not even then)
Im unsure if this is the case with this Honda. They have no official stance on the subject of used modules that I am aware of.
The only way to know is to attempt to code the module.
