I am considering purchasing a 1997 Del Sol for my daughter. It is pretty badly mangled on the front end. After doing a bit of inspection it looks like it is almost ALL body panel and door damage.
My question is, are front end body items interchangeable from earlier or later year Honda Civics that are NOT Del Sol models? Currently it looks like both fenders, hood, bumper, bumper cover, wheel well skirts, passenger A pillar, passenger door, radiator support rail, etc are what I need. It still runs, and even drives (if you can believe it), just needs body work.
I am planning to overhaul the engine and transmission. They have 267,000 miles on them and with them out I can tackle the rust that pervades the engine compartment.
Also, where might I find a Factory Service Manual? I found free Honda Civic FSMs on Archive.org, but they do not appear to cover the Del Sol as none of the VIN code segments are represented in the ones I found.
Some folks have done 92-95 Civic front end swaps. It involves radiator support, fenders, front bumper, hood and some fabrication to mold the Civic and Del Sol fenders to fit.
As for direct replacement…NO, there is none
Hi. Haven't posted in over 20 years on here and just got an email that it's my anniversary so I'll spread some love.
Had a 12 second all motor del sol. 2 liter B18c5 usdm type r swap with golden eagle sleeves and ITBs. It was fast. So i remember a thing or two from my del sol days.
No. You cannot swap civic stuff up front. You'll need to change out radiator support and whatnot. Just find del sol parts. OEM del sol parts if you can so you don't have to adjust. I remember aftermarket headlights coming out when LEDs were the rage. They didn't look too bad. Don't get into the fad of swapping civic and integra front ends back and forth. That ricey stuff sucked then and it sucks now.
