Battery tire-down
All. This noob decided to change the battery tie down.
Simple right? Well, not exactly. First find how big your battery is. You could actually measure it. (What a concept.) Or you could look up its group size (My 94 Honda Civic CX is a 51R) and look up the size. Next go on line to find a battery tie down that seems to work with your battery trap holes. Tie-downs, I've found, come in different sizes. The first tie down I bought was way too wide for my skinny battery. Also check the length of the hold downs, compared to the height of your battery, to avoid having to trim the damn thing later so it fits under your hood. I put some lok-tite on the hold down screws to avoid surprises later. Done. This was one of those jobs that started simple and deteriorated quickly. Hope this helps. Cheers, Luckybiker

Thanks for the msg - in spite of the deceptive typo. (grin) I brought Aronova for 9.46.on amazon. Had stainless hardware plus actual hex nuts -- my experience with wing nuts is not good. Plan to install today (Fri) and will post any issues with this deceptively (sometimes not so) simple upgrade. Cheers, luckybiker

back in the 1980-90s it was common to use bungee cord to hold the battery in place. It didnt really work, but theDMV said you had to have a hold down, nothing about it working
Yes, I lot of my long-hair lay-about friends used rope, big rubber bands, yes, bungees, etc. all of which quick expired from battery acid vapors. But they got through inspection. (grin).
My 5 in battery did not like the adjustable Anova so I went back to a simple plate - on order.. Maybe soon I will be done with this "simple" job. Cheers, Luckybiker
