Hello:
I am replacing my front left engine mount on my 1996 Civic Hatchback. I am puzzled because the stud that screws into the engine is significantly narrower than the bushing of the new engine mount. Whereas the stud is roughly 1/2" in diameter, the bushing in the mount that receives the stud is roughly 3/4" in diameter. There is significant lateral 'slop' between the stud and the bushing. I can't see how that could be correct for an engine mount.
It seems to me that the metal bushing that is in the rubber mount isn't thick enough to make a firm fit over the stud. Am I missing something? Please see attached pic. Thanks in advance for any help.
Dave
Thanks, YBLEGAL: No, it's not OEM, but I have since discovered via Youtube that this mount, or "isolator" is supposed to have some play in it. The stud is supposed to "float" in the rubber of the isolator for some reason that I don't understand. Oh well, I presume the Honda engineers know far more than me - so I'll just go along with the floating isolator. Thanks again.
