OH COME ON, WTH
Just whining and complaining here. !995 civic lx 5 speed 441k miles
I replaced the master cylinder 3 years ago. Bled all four wheels with no problems. Well the fine high quality Amazon master cylinder died this week. Ok fine, replaced the Chinese knock off with a sub quality Doorman unit (at least its a brand I can pronounce) went to bleed the rear wheel cylinders. and yep you guessed it, both bleeders broke off in the wheel cylinders. Come on, I get one breaking, but both. jeesh. New ones go one tomorrow, I have never looked at the rear brakes, so I am planning for the worse but hoping for the best. How bad of a job is replacing the rear brake drums? On a Ford f150 they are a pain in the A@@, how bad are these on the civic. I am also planning for the brake lines to be rusted in place inside the flare nut, so I might be replacing some brake line. To heck with the wrench, Im going straight to the ViceGrips
Thanks for letting me vent

So to follow up so far......
Oriellys somehow only ordered one wheel cylinder, they got me another an hour later. Took one drum off, yep need shoes. Autozone (more on that later) had them. Go to take the springs off, rusty but look ok. nope they disintegrated when I touched them with plies, Nobody had the spring kit in stock. Oriellys could get them that afternoon. Nope, they didnt. the part number on the spring kit is also the same part number as an o2 sensor (guess what was delivered). Ok they can get it in another hour.. Ok this afternoon I have all the parts together, Wheel cylinders, brake shoes and the spring kit, as well as brake clean and brake juice. time to get to work, NOOOTTT HAPPEENNNING. The shoes are the wrong size. literally too large, back to autozone, hopefully he orered the correct parts and will be there tomorrow.
So far SEVEN (7) trips to the parts places for brakes. I think it will be more though.
Finally got the job done. The hardest part was collecting the parts. Which makes me wonder, If I had a heck of a time getting parts now, whats the plan in 5 years. I questioned the counter guy at Autozone as to why they dont keep the shoes in the store, and he made a valid point, the car is 30 years old, not that many on the road anymore. When I was looking for the shoes, I called a local Honda dealership. He could only get me 1 (one) shoe at a time (4 separate orders) because there were no sets of 4 in the country. He was as dumbfounded as I was that Honda sold the shoes individually. I guess Stinkys days are numbered.
