30 MPH Shaking and vibration under driver side foot area on 2007 Honda PIlot LX 215K
Hello Hello Honda peeps
So I have a crappy issue going on.
I feel a weird shaking and vibration under driver and passenger side foot area on my 2007 Honda PIlot LX with 215,000 miles 2WD.
It very pronounced between the speed of 30 and 35 Miles.
first i thought it was my CV Axle I got the them both replaced.
then i thought it was my struts and i replaced the struts but that did not help.
I got the tires balanced twice and that did not help.
I got my rotors changed too. No luck there.
I changed sway bar links too. nope did not help.
This vibration is "NOT" something i feel in the steering wheel that you feel when your tires are not correctly balanced.
I feel that on the floor of the driver & passenger side...and its more like a bumpy vibrating shaking.
what would it be? does it sound like a bad tire?any suspension components that could be the culprit?
i dont think its the wheel bearings because they are not making any wo0o wo0o0o noises.. LOL
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
thank you very much
sincerely
KK

could it be engine mounts? transmission mounts?
mechanic checked engine mounts and said nothing stands out....

Oh wow. Besides the shake, i bet your pilot drives like new after replacing all those components! hehe.
i have so many questions on your symptoms lol
Is it still present above 35mph?
Is it happening with light accelerating? is it there when you let off the gas? how about under hard acceleration?
Have you noticed if it is any different if the engine is not yet up to operating temp?
OH! first off, How long have you owned the vehicle? (basically wondering if the shake has been there since you purchased it? or have you owned it awhile, and its a new(er) issue. )
i ask because You mentioned its 2wd... is it the VCM engaging? only 2wd FIRST gen pilots had VCM and i can't remember if there is any light indication on the dash
that would come on when it does engage (like it does on 2nd gen pilots)
So if its always had that shake since you bought it, thats something to maybe consider?
ummm..OTHERWISE
here are a couple of my thoughts, and things ive seen personally.
We didn't necessarily see this as much on first gen pilots, But umm MAYBE torque converter lock up clutch?
I know you said the axles have been replaced, but how about the intermediate shaft/shaft bearing?
I know it sounds weird, but i have seen caliper pins hang up and cause a vibration. (but not a pulsation)

yeah so i used GABREIL ULTRA STRUTS and they are stiffer than OEM but its okay...im fine with that. its drives rock solid
so to answer your questions
Is it still present above 35 mph? it disappears after 35 mph
Is it happening with light accelerating? yes it is.
is it there when you let off the gas? it stops when i let the gas pedal go
how about under hard acceleration?the harder i accelerate the more pronounced the vibration is but it goes away after 40 mph
so yes the VCM engages and ECO Light comes on but it has not since the P0420 CEL light is on for catalytic converter is ON( cataclean fixed it but it came back LOL, ill wait to buy cataclean again when i have a job. im currently unemplyed and have been for 4 months)
I have had this SUV since 2010 and it only had 97,000 miles when i bought it.Now it has 213,000 miles and this black stallion is my best friend.
ive never looked at the intermediate bearing shaft and never thought about it but is it that the thing that you only see on the passenger side? am i correct?
and i do not know what caliper pins are.never heard of them....are they in brake calipers?
thank you so much for the detailed response...
i hope i can find the issue....i really wanna keep this suv
